Pupusa
The pupusa is the most famous food in El Salvador. Pupusas can use meat, vegetables, cheese and beans. My grandmother taught me the recipe. I wanted to let more people know about El Salvador, so I wrote the recipe for the pupusa.
Ingredients Serves 4
2 Teaspoons Oil
2 Cups Rice Flour
1 Cup Mozzarella Cheese
1/4 Cup Milk
3 Cups of Water
1: Make the dough:
- Put 2 cups of Rice flour in a large bowl and slowly mix a little hot water and rice flour.
- Keep adding water until you can make the dough into balls.
- Wait for 10 minutes.
2: Combine the milk and cheese:
- Grate some mozzarella cheese and place into a blender.
- Add 1/4 cup of milk into the blender and blend the ingredients.
- Place the blended cheese into a bowl.
* If you have refried beans, you may mix the beans with the cheese.
* People from El salvador like to add loroco to the cheese.

3: Start making the pupusas:
- Use your hands to cover the dough in oil and flatten the dough into 8 circles.
- Add 3 tablespoons of filling on top of the circle.
- Place a new dough circle on top of the circle with filling.
- Close the edges of the pupusa and add dough if there is a hole.
- Cook each pupusa on a frying pan.
- Flip the pupusa.
- Cook both sides until you see large parts of the pupusa turn brown on the top and bottom, then the pupusas will be ready.
